Every Step, a Celebration of Culture.
Our Story
MCS Peshawari Chappal is a family workshop in Peshawar. We make Peshawari chappals by hand, the traditional sandal of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, known as kheri in Punjabi and saplai in Pashto.
A Family Business, Two Generations
Our father has made Peshawari chappals for more than 30 years. His son has worked beside him for more than 10, learning every step of the craft at the same workbench. MCS is the name we now give to that work: the same hands, the same standards, and the same rule that no pair leaves the workshop until it is right.
Our Craftsmen
More than 15 craftsmen work in our workshop. They come from Peshawar and Charsadda, the two towns most connected with the Peshawari chappal. Each one has a part in every pair, from cutting the leather to stitching the sole.
How We Make Every Pair
- We choose the materials. Premium High Kuram leather made in Pakistan, rubber soles, and nylon, waxed and cotton thread.
- We design the style. Our craftsmen draw each design and plan how its panels fit together.
- We cut with a farma. Every leather panel is cut with a farma, the cutting mould used in our workshop, so the left and right chappal match exactly.
- We build the upper. The cut panels are joined to form the upper of the chappal.
- We fix the sole twice. The sole is glued first, then stitched by hand: a double hold, not glue alone.
- We fit the back strap and buckle.
- We inspect every pair. Leather, stitching, sole and buckle are checked before the pair is packed.
One pair takes at least two to three hours to make.
Our Materials
Every design is available in Premium High Kuram, our top-grade leather, known in the trade as Karachi High Kuram. Some designs also come in High Kuram leather, High Kuram Suede, Micro Fiber (an imported microfiber upper with a leather back) and Cut Piece (imported). Each product page shows exactly which material you are buying.
